James Martin Morrison is an award-winning filmmaker with fifteen years of experience in both documentary and narrative film. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his editing work on the National Geographic Documentary film Fly. Additional editing credits include the Netflix Original Series Unnatural Selection, and the Netflix Original Series Immigration Nation, which won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Series in 2021, as well as the 2020 Peabody Award for documentary.
His narrative directorial debut Diverge, a sci-fi/thriller about a global pandemic, was awarded Best Feature at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, the Siren Award at Lund International Film Festival, and the Top Prize US in Progress Award in Paris, and is available on Amazon Prime and across digital platforms. His recent projects include the short film Jump Cut, which won the Best Sci-Fi award at the Coney Island Film Festival in 2024 and is now streaming on DUST. He is currently writing a feature-length screenplay that explores relationships and the nature of connection across parallel universes.
